Shortbread, Christmas cake, chocolate, there are so many tasty treats to choose from this holiday season! The absolute FAVOURITE of this little bunny though is Gingerbread, especially decorated with white frosting and gumdrop buttons. Yum! Make sure to double check that you have a real cookie before you bite down though, and not one made of yarn!

Materials
- Hook: CLOVER 1043/E Magenta Amour Crochet Hook, Size E, 3.5mm (I also like this 10 hook set from Clover)
- Yarn: Worsted Weight: Approx. 100 yards- Brown, White, (I used Impeccable by Loops and Threads) bow/button colour (I used Caron Simply Soft Party)
- 10 mm Safety Eyes or Embroidered Eyes (you can find safety eyes on Etsy, Amazon, or your local crafting store)
- Polyfill
- Needle
- Optional: Stitch Markers and Pins, embroidery thread for eyelashes

Magic Ring alternative- If you do not feel comfortable doing a magic ring, you can also chain 2 and work the indicated number of stitches into the first chain.
Continuous Rounds– Each row is completed in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated.
Standing Double Crochet- This stitch is used instead of a SL ST and CH 2 when attaching new yarn to create a DC (if you feel more comfortable using the aforementioned approach, do so, counting it as a stitch). To start the stitch, wrap your yarn around your hook first, then insert your hook through the first stitch. YO and pull through (3 stitches on the hook). Complete the rest of the stitch as if it is a regular DC.
Boy/Skirt-less Gingerbread Bunny- If you would like to make a matching boy bunny, you can easily alter the pattern by SL ST a row of white yarn to the leftover front loops of R7 and attach the bow to the neck, OR omit the white icing around the stomach completely and work in both loops for R7.

In brown colour yarn:
R1: 6 SC into MR (6 st)
R2: INC SC around (12 st)
R3: (SC, INC SC) x6 (18 st)
R4: (2 SC, INC SC) x6 (24 st)
R5: (3 SC, INC SC) x6 (30 st)
R6: (4 SC, INC SC) x6 (36 st)
R7-R13: SC around (36 st)
R14: (4 SC, INV DEC) x6 (30 st)
Place 10 mm eyes between R10 &11, 5 st apart. If you wish to sew on eyelashes, do not add washers to the back of the safety eyes yet! Remove the eyes once you like their placement, using embroidery thread, sew on two or three eyelashes for each eye, starting where the safety eyes will go and out on an angle. Make sure they are long enough otherwise they will be hidden by the eyes.
Reinsert the eyes and add washers to the back.
Using white, stitch a nose, running the needle through several times horizontally, in line with the eyes, and one time vertically, 2 rows down.
R15: (3 SC, INV DEC) x6 (24 st)
Start stuffing, making sure to stuff firmly
R16: (2 SC, INV DEC) x6 (18 st)
R17: (SC, INV DEC) x6 (12 st)
FO, and finish stuffing, weaving in the ends.
Ears: (make 2)
Using brown colour yarn:
R1: 5 MR (5 st)
R2: INC SC around (10 st)
R3: (4 SC, INC SC) x2 (12 st)
R4-R6: SC around (12 st)
R7: (4 SC, INV DEC) x2 (10 st)
R8-R11: SC around (10 st)
FO, leaving long tail for sewing. Do not stuff. Flatten ears and pinch base in half, sewing back and forth a few times. Pin to the top of the head, about 2-3 round from the top of the head and sew in place. Weave in ends.
Body:
In brown colour yarn:
R1: 6 SC into MR (6 st)
R2: INC SC around (12 st)
R3: (SC, INC SC) x6 (18 st)

Skirt:
Turn the bunny so the bottom is facing up. See ‘other notes’ for how to make a standing DC.
In brown colour yarn:
R1: Starting at the back of the body, in the leftover front loops from R7, make a standing DC and 2 DC in the same stitch. INC 3 DC in each stitch around (90 st). SL ST to first st and FO, weaving in the ends.
In white colour yarn:
R2: Attach the yarn at the back of the body, and SL ST around, making sure the SL ST appear on the top of the skirt. SL ST to first st and FO, weaving in ends. (if you want the frosting on the edges of the skirt instead of the top, SC around instead)
Arms: (make 2)
In brown colour yarn:
R1: 5 SC in MR (5 st)
R2: INC SC (10 st)
R3: SC around (10 st)
R4: IN BLO, SC around (10 st)
R5: (3 SC, INV DEC) x2 (8 st)
Stuff tip of hand lightly.
R6- R9: SC around (8 st)
To close, pinch sides closed and 4 SC across through top of stitches of both sides. FO, leaving length of yarn.
In white colour yarn, attach to the unworked loops of R4 and SL ST around (you can also opt to SC around if you want to make ‘thicker’ frosting’). SL ST to first stitch of row and FO, weaving in ends.
Sew arms to the body and weave in the ends.
Legs: (make 2)
In brown colour yarn:
R1: 6 SC in MR (6 st)
R2: INC SC (12 st)
R3-4: SC around (12 st)
R5: In the BLO, SC around (12 st)
R6: (4 SC, INV DEC) x2 (10 st)
Stuff at the base of foot, and continue to lightly stuff up to halfway up the leg.
R7: (3 SC, INV DEC) x2 (8 st)
R8-R11: SC around (8 st)
To close, pinch sides closed and 4 SC across through top of stitches of both sides. Finish off, leaving length of yarn.
In white colour yarn, attach to the unworked loops of R5 and SL ST around (you can also opt to SC around if you want to make ‘thicker’ frosting’). SL ST to first stitch of row and FO, weaving in ends.
Pin the legs to the base of the body and sew on. Weave in ends.
Buttons: (make 2)
In pink colour yarn:
R1: 6 SC in MR (6 SC)
SL ST to 1st st and FO, leaving a length of yarn for sewing. Pin to the body and sew in place. Weave in the ends.
Bow:
In pink colour yarn:
R1: CH 15, SC in 2nd CH from how and SC across (14 st)
R2-R3: CH 1, turn. SC across (14 st)
If you prefer a thicker bow, add another row of SC
FO, leaving a long tail of yarn and sew two ends together. Pinch together bow in the centre and wrap the yarn tightly around several times. Run the needle through the back and around the wrapped yarn a few times to hold it in place. Pin to the ear of the bunny and sew on. Weave in the ends.
