The Beach Blossoms Market Bag

While it may be hot outside this time of year, the cool and calming shades of The Beach Blossoms Market Bag will have you imagining you are dragging your feet through the wet sand, or enjoying the feeling of cool water lapping against your toes. While designed as a market bag, The Beach Blossoms works well as an everyday tote, or bag to take to the beach! It is designed to easily be made larger or smaller to fit your needs (especially when it comes to shopping!). While designed with Caron Cotton Cakes in mind, cotton yarns of all types and colours will accentuate the stitching and style of the bag.

Other Notes:

-Beginning CH 1, CH3, CH 4 do NOT count as a stitch.

-This pattern is worked in rows, connected with a SL ST (does not count as a stitch).

-2DC BOB- to make a 2DC BOB, YO, insert into next stitch, YO, pull through. YO, pull through first 2 loops on your hook. YO, insert into same stitch, YO, pull through. YO, pull through first 2 stitches. YO, pull through all remaining loops on your hook.

-Flame ST- to create a flame stitch, working around the CH 3 from the row below-(2DC BOB, CH 3) x4, 2DC BOB. Your flame stitch will look like a modified shell with 4 petals. When completing the rows between the flame stitch rows, you will only SC around the 2nd and 3rd petals (see below photo)

Each flame stitch is made of 4 petals. The SC stitches in R15 attach around the 2nd and 3rd petals. The SC of R14 and TC of R15 line up above one another

-In the repeating rows 14 and 15, the TC and SC stitches that separate each flame stitch should always line up on top of each other (see above photo)

-You can easily alter the width of the bag by increasing/decreasing the number of stitches by 10, and alter the length of the bag by increasing/decreasing the number of times you repeat R14/15
