With summer right around the corner, weekend markets are in full swing, bringing with them lots of opportunities to purchase local produce and products! Not only are you supporting the local economy, locally sourced produce involves a lot less energy consumption (and pollution) from farm to table! As an environmentally conscious consumer, I try to limit waste (especially with single-use plastics) as much as possible by turning down plastic bags and using reusable bags instead. I hope this one-skein market tote inspires you to say ‘no’ to unnecessary plastics, and yes to cute reusable alternatives! This tote also makes a great beach bag- perfect for tossing in your towel and flip-flops for a day by the water! Want to save even more energy? Wash the bag using cold water and hang it outside to dry when it needs to be freshened up!
A quick disclaimer: This pattern uses the new version of Caron Cotton Cakes, which has a lot more yarn than it’s predecessor. This is a one skein project (I used just over 3/4 of a skein to make my bag) using the new larger cake size. If you are using the smaller sized cakes from your yarn stash, you’ll need more than one to complete the project.
